Our Instructors

 Mr. Russell started his Martial Arts training as an adolecent.  After he enlisted in the U.S. Navy he was promptly sent to the Middle East to serve as a Stinger missile gunner. After serving in Desert Storm, he was reassigned to a ship homeported in Yokosuka, Japan.  In Japan he was given the oppurtunity to continue his martial arts training for several years under Instructor Yoshihiro Takashima, in Seishin Juku and Kyokushin karate at the Yokosuka Dojo.  After returning home from the Navy he attended the University of West Alabama in Livingston, AL, where he received his degree in English and journalism and a Master's Degree in Education.  While in Graduate school, Mr. Russell began training at Ross Martial Arts and in 2006 he moved to Demopolis and became an English teacher at Demopolis High School.

-Head MMA Coach & Kickboxing Coach and Ross Fight Team
-Yamasaki BJJ Blue Belt under Joe Cunningham

Mr. Russell is currently the Alabama State Champion in the men's lightweight kickboxing division of the Alabama Karate Circuit.  
Mr. Jay Russell was Honored with the  2009  "Hall of Fame" by the United States Martial Arts Association.
